Kyle left early for school so he could meet up with Roxie.
"And do what?" Ellie couldn't help but ask.
"None of your business," Kyle shrugged not wanting to talk to her. Not wanting to even know she was there. She guessed she deserved that answer. She was pretty sure she knew already. She hadn't forgotten him completely. She knew his ways.
They didn't say goodbye. Ellie walked toward Eric's. They'd meet up somewhere. He was going to save on gas. And he wasn't going to start cross-country running before school.
She hadn't asked why not. A part of her wanted him too, yet she really needed him this first day of school. Honestly, she'd always prided herself in never needing anyone. But now, that was just a faded memory.
Immediately, they kissed and held hands. They hadn't dressed like twins today. She was in something black to go with her black hair, and he wasn't in anything for first impressions, just jeans and a Ramones T-shirt.
"It'll be so boring today," Eric smiled. "You'll see."
"I want it to be, you know." She nodded.
"I'll be interesting to see how this Roxie and Kyle thing turns out. She might turn on him by lunch. You think we should save him?"
"No."
"Don't be so hard on him," Eric pulled her close and they hugged. "If she doesn't know it by now, he's probably the best boyfriend she's ever had. He's walked a good ten miles out of the way for her this summer."
"Would you walk ten miles for me?"
"Of course," he shrugged.
"I wouldn't ask you too." She told him right away.
"Well, you can, if you must." He French kissed her then at Smokers Hill because once they passed that fence to the teacher's parking lot the surveillance cameras were on. And it could mean trouble.
"Honestly, this place needs a new name, Makeout hill."
"Or Last Chance Kiss."
They kissed more. It was easy to forget the bell even. Finally, Ellie reached for the chap-stick for her raw lips, then she handed it over to Eric.
Finally, they made it up the steps. Hand in hand. Ellie began to hear her heart race. She didn't know why she was so nervous. So tense. Just as the bell rang. Eric gave her a kiss on the cheek. "See you at lunch, aye?" He winked with a smile and went on his way. Ellie took a deep breath and went on her way a different direction.
It was going to be a good day. It had to be a good day.
Hi there-going back to school after a long break is nerving for everyone, I think!!
ReplyDeletei missed school. only college, not highschool. lol. it's so sweet of eric and ellie to french kiss out there. haha. wonder why she's nervous. sometime's i feel that way. o_O
ReplyDeleteso romantic! but is it my imagination or do I sense some subtle, underlying tension between ellie and eric? can't tell if it is just ellie's nerves or not! (me=always on the lookout for break-up drama!)
ReplyDeletegreat update, can't wait for more! :) I love that they are in school now, it's really good! :)
