Olivia listened carefully.
She sort of remembered Roger. She thought him a bit hyper even silly at the movie that day. But he made her laugh even if he probably hadn't meant too.
"So if we come and get you, would you have chocolate cheese cake with us," Roger went on to say.
"Are you a chef?" She thought it was odd that he talked about the cheese cake as if it might be the new in thing.
"We're coming over, OK." He sounded happy. "Eric wants to see you."
That was a bit of a shock. She thought he was being fickle, again. There was something wrong, but he wouldn't tell her. She was pretty sure she was a turn off. Maybe she was. A chill came over her. She felt like wrapping up in a blanket and hiding somewhere.
"All right." She had nothing better to do. Of course, she was just in her pale undies at her lap top in her room.
She'd have to get dressed. She smelled her arm pits. It would be too late for a shower now. She sprayed Clinique's Happiness about as if she'd ran through an April shower. True, it was still March, and bitter cold.
She slipped into her denim leggings and a cheap top she'd remade with elastic at the bodice. It had been a floral pillow case at one time, but now it had blue ribbons for straps.
Olivia braided up her hair as quickly as she could. It felt like a date, but it probably wasn't. Why did she even try? She looked herself in the mirror, staring blankly. She knew she couldn't ask for much.
Eric had talked to her and then he hadn't. What did she do that was so wrong? She could be his friend. They could still be friends. They could be doing their online thing, couldn't they? That was enough, wasn't it? She wanted it to be enough, and yet it hurt that it wasn't. Why did it have to be like this? She went to her document she had opened of the story that she figured Eric had probably forgot. But after all, he was the knight, and she was the dragon.
Hi there-lets hope Eric gives him and Olivia a chance.
ReplyDeleteI love it how you always describe the preparations for the "dates" of the characters. It makes me relate to them... Clinique's Happiness has such a spring smell! I'm ready for Spring now. It's still rainy and 7°C now, I WANT WARMER WEATHER!
ReplyDeleteWhooo! Olivia has denim leggings too, like me! And that top sounds very cool too.
I would act exactly like Olivia.. I know she likes Eric! And I will dress up even for school if I know I'll see my crush.
No, Olivia shoudln't be satisfied with the online thing. The real thing is SO MUCH better.
Thanks for your comment! I took your advice and wore the black shoes. And you said you liked the video - which one? The Mary-Kate one, the Bowie one or the Madagascar trailer?
I'm glad she's going out with them. I hope it'll be better than she expects.
ReplyDeleteI think it was funny she was in her room in her undies..kind of makes me wonder if Eric knows this about her.
