Kyle was in total shock when Amanda stepped out of the car with Kelsey.
"Wow." Was all he could manage. Her outfit looked no more than a white sheet wrapped around her. OK, a very expensive sheet with gold ribbon at the bodice and so strapless. How in the world was she keeping that thing up? He wouldn't dare ask. It was a good thing he had a wrist corsage for her, full of little pink roses.
"Thanks," she smiled. They were going out to their favorite Chinese buffet with Kelsy and Nick. Cory and the others were going to meet them there at the museum where the prom would be.
It felt weird to be in a tuxedo. Kyle couldn't wait to get out of it. Yet, it was nice to see Nick and Kelsey so fancy. They were picture perfect.
"I want us to get our picture taken tonight," Amanda then said.
"I was just thinking that." He smiled as they went to get food. His mother had given him extra cash just for pictures. Yeah, it was looking like a grand time ahead of them.
"You know Ryan will be there tonight," Kelsey mentioned half way through dinner.
"Ryan?" Kyle went blank. He could only think of one and he didn't live here. "You're kidding me?" Didn't she know Ryan was trouble. Always had been.
"Yeah, he's Ellie's date." She grinned nudging Amanda then.
"Date? What are you talking about?"
"Well, it wouldn't be right to have her left out in the cold," Kelsey shrugged.
"Ellie can't stand him." Kyle winced.
"What?"
"Yeah."
"But, but remember that night," Kelsey started, then cleared her throat. He knew what night she spoke of.
"Yeah, I think you forgot, or something else was on your mind." Kyle didn't want to dare say it was himself as he looked at Amanda. "She hates him."
Kelsey suddenly frowned. "That's not the way I remember. They were having fun."
"She was yelling at him the whole time."
"But they were together," Kelsey cringed.
Kyle just smiled. Oh, it was going to be a hell of a night.
Looks like something might be in store now for the evening.
