in the moment

Eric was happy Olivia was with him. They'd been carrying on their own private conversation with their hands. Even in the dark it was fun and a part him felt alleviated from everything else. Some how, it didn't bother him that he'd brought her and to wonder what anyone would think. It didn't really matter. He really felt better about everything when he was with Olivia. And it wasn't that he needed her to make him feel this way, it was that he felt this way just thinking about her and how bright the future might be. He wasn't thinking about what they could do alone, but what they could be right here, right now.

And then he saw Ellie. Everything stopped for a moment. He didn't want to notice her, but there she was.

"What happened?" Olivia asked.

"Nothing." He felt a bit sad that she'd showed up alone. Only for a moment. Then he saw that guy. Tall and lean. And he seemed to know Ellie. She had a date, after all. He was fine with. it. Not that he would go over and say anything. He wouldn't. There was no need too.

Eric sighed. He smiled and looked to Olivia. "Really, its nothing." And it wasn't. He was right where he wanted to be. "We'll get our picture taken." He started dancing with her. "Later." It was the best feeling. He felt free of Ellie. Finally.
