doubts

Roger had decided he wasn't going to talk about this to Ellie. There was no need to explain. Was there?

So he was with Olivia. If Ellie could do as she damned well please, so could he?

"Well, I could talk to her," Olivia said who was putting the last of her things on some shelves they'd found at a garage sale down the street.

"No," he shook his head. "I don't want you too."

"Come on, we are all living here together," Olivia looked at him. "I want us to get along."

"We don't have to get along." He told her.

"But I want us too." She looked him in the eye.

"I know what she's gonna say." Roger couldn't take his eyes off Olivia, but it wasn't a stare down competition. It was just fun.. "And I don't need to hear it. You don't need to hear it. She's not my mother."

"You don't even see your mother." Olivia reminded him.

"So." He shrugged. "I don't want people telling us this isn't going to work. They have no right to say that, you know."

"Don't tell me you did this out of spite." Olivia hugged herself then.

"How can you say that?" He looked hurt that she'd even think it. Well, he'd have to change her mind. He pulled her to him and kissed away any doubt she might have. He didn't want her to have any doubts because he didn't have any.
