The last person Ellie expected to see at her Dad's house was Elliot.
She felt herself choking for air. She couldn't remember the last time she saw him. And at the moment she was suddenly full of 'uh's'... as she tried to introduce him to Lon. Ellie found herself staring at him even though she wanted to talk to Amanda alone. But that seemed quite awkward now.
"I hope you're not mad." But Ellie was pretty sure Amanda was. Why was Elliot here?
"Is she OK?" She seemed more concerned with Rosie who was wide a wake and ready to play.
"Yeah, she's great," Lon spoke up then who was holding Rosie, who seemed to enjoy Lon's hair as she sucked on her pacifier.
"Do you know how mad I was at the airport when nobody was there to pick me up?" She told them now. "At least Elliot picked me up." Amanda crossed her arms.
"I didn't know when you were coming in." Ellie told her. If she'd known, she would have been there to pick her up.
"I don't know how much longer I can stay here." Amanda gave Ellie a soured look.
"I'm sorry, but you could at least be here for a while, you know, so you can think it through." Ellie thought of Rosie's room. There were all those posters of all the Disney Princesses, and her unicorn stuffed animal collection. Kyle had painted that room a beautiful cream purple. Just for her. It was the only room she knew.
Amanda was upset though and Ellie almost scowled when Elliot put his arms around her.
Lon let Rosie down so she could go to her toys. Her rich red curls floated about her as she danced about before she fell on a plush stuffed animal on the carpet in the living-room.
Ellie knew she was suppose to say all these things like what can I do for starters, but she couldn't.
"Kyle is upset, too." Lon then said.
Amanda looked at him as if he wasn't suppose to talk about him.
"I just hope you can work something out." Lon shrugged.
"Come on," Ellie said. "I want to show you my room." She took him upstairs then and closed the door behind her.
"I don't want you starting up anything, you know," Ellie looked at him.
"I'm not. I'm just telling her what I saw." Lon put his arm around her and kissed her cheek.
"I have this gut feeling she's moving in with Elliot." Ellie hugged herself.
"Would that be such a bad thing?" Lon winced as he kept staring at her.
"It'll be weird." Ellie shook her head.
"Is it because you don't like him or he's just weird?" Lon touched Ellie's back.
"Maybe both." Ellie sighed. "I just feel so bad for Rosie, you know." Ellie hugged Lon then. Some welcome home this was going to be. Her Dad wasn't even home and Kyle's Mom was at work.
