so vulnerable

All Ellie needed was her Mom to be upset with her over the justice of the peace thing appointment. She knew her mom was aggravated from the tone in her voice and how she couldn't dare smile about it. Yes, Ellie and Lon were getting married at the Justice of the Peace in a few days.

It made Ellie all the more stressed. She'd hoped her mother would keep Charlie while she went to have dinner with Kelsey.

"I know you don't like it, but you'd be disappointed no matter what." Ellie admitted.

"Fine." Her mother would barely say anything. It was as if her mother's little apartment had to be immaculate. As if it looked as if this was her own little sanctuary of perfection. There were pictures on the wall, all of her sister and her family, not one of her and Lon and especially, not Charlie.

Instantly, Ellie felt parched. She knew how her mother felt about them now. She didn't like it one little bit what was happening. That Ellie had decided on making a family with Lon and Charlie.

"You can't even decide on a major, but you can go and do this." Her mother mother snapped as Ellie watched her fold napkins perfectly. As if she were getting ready for a tea party for an invisible crowd.

Ellie couldn't say anything. The words just couldn't come. She felt so sad that her mother was this mad, and there Charlie was fighting to get down, not understanding how he had to not hurt any of her mother's precious things.

"I have to go. I think Charlie will be happier if..if he's with me." Ellie quickly decided. She wasn't so sure how Kelsey would feel about the extra guest. "I'm sorry I bothered you." It was on her breath. She tried to say before she melted into tears.

  1. I'm sure there might be lots of reasons why her mom is upset about this.

  3. Poor Ellie, her mum may not approve but she should still be there for her and support Ellie.
