"What happened?" Olivia asked.
Syd felt herself shake. She could hardly think of Kip's words. She didn't want to. He hadn't sounded himself at all. It was awful. He told her she belonged to him.
"I'm coming for you! You belong with me! No one else! I'm tired of, you, fucking around! I know what's right! And you belong to me!" It made Syd sick to think he could sound so deranged and scary. It wasn't the Kip she knew. Her brow furrowed with the thought that he could come and take her, just to be his victim.
"I think. I think Kip could be trouble." She sat down on the couch as she weighed it out. But it was a wave of fear that hit her. What would he do? Would he hurt her? Would he do something awful? Her face tensed as she stressed about it.
"Do you think he was drunk?" Olivia sat next to her.
"I dunno." She looked into space. "I've never had anything happened to me like this before." She looked at Olivia. "You ever met someone, and you think you know them, just to find out. You don't?" She felt physically shattered now. His words haunted her as if he meant to be her worst nightmare.
"Uh, well, I have a friend who has Asperger's. He gets in his moods. He, he followed me once to the library. But you know, he's not that bad." Olivia shrugged.
"I dunno what to think. Kip sounded OK. When I talked to him, earlier. I thought he took the news, OK. Now, God, I dunno what I'd do if he shows up." Her eyes widen, thinking he could be evil.
"Maybe he just needed to vent. You know." Olivia suggested.
"Yeah, maybe that's what he was doing." Syd nodded. She hoped he calmed down and forgot he even called her.
