The year was 1995, and I was to young to drive. I felt so stuck on the inside, of my life. Just living up my life through my TV, with all my favorite shows. Wanted my life to work our so easy, don’t care if anybody knows.- the secret handshake
Elliot couldn't sleep. He needed a sedative, perhaps. This business of Amanda up and leaving was maddening. It had been the start of so many questions. From everyone.
No. No. He didn't know anything. It was a blank. Was it a clean slate to her? Was that what this was? And he could see how mad Eric was. Then Eric's sudden fear that he'd fight for the baby.
"I don't want anything to do with that." Elliot shook his head. "That's you and Amanda to decide." Then he felt awful about the idea that Elliot didn't like Evan according to Eric, but that wasn't true. He did. He just didn't have any expectations, and he certainly couldn't take care of the baby now when he wanted information like yesterday when it came to Amanda's whereabouts.
He did not see this coming.
"Did you know she was like this?" He was seeing Kyle in a whole different light now. How Amanda must have been with him. Leaving him with Rosie like she did.
"Maybe." Kyle was upset too. They were both caught up in the whirlwind of this. And now he was in an empty house. "I mean- I dunno. She was-"
"What? Tell me!" Elliot was desperate for anything Kyle might could give him about Amanda.
"I think she gets overwhelmed, sometimes." Kyle tried to keep it simple. "I-I thought she just wanted you."
Elliot nodded. He thought that too. Was she running from something?
"I mean, I-I wonder if things had been different if we'd given Rosie up for adoption. I seriously thought about it. But then, well, I really thought she needed Rosie. I did. Maybe she will some day." Kyle wasn't giving up hope.
"Yeah." But they had to find her first.
This stung Elliot. This was not suppose to be happening. He didn't like being on the news. He was just a teacher. What was he suppose to do now?
