a passing phase

This was awkward as hell, thought Roger. Here he was at Cory and Demetri's. It had sort of a nice ring to it. He guessed. Like a bistro jazz club, perhaps. Still Cory was his ex. Even if it was some time ago. He'd really been in love with Cory. Roger felt like a loser now. He couldn't seem to hold on to anyone.

"You're sure you're OK?" Cory's puppy-like eyes were just like Roger remembered, but he knew there was nothing to rekindle. He was obviously unfixable, he thought now. There was no need to even ask either of them what his fucking problem was.

"Why not?" Roger was rigid. Might as well give them the cold shoulder too.

"Maybe you were just working to hard at this relationship with Olivia." Demetri reminded him of before when he came to him, thinking Olivia had cheated on him.

Roger just sat there on the couch hugging himself. He couldn't look at either of them.

"Maybe I should just go." He stood up, ready for the door.

"No," Cory shook his head. "We can't have you out wondering the streets getting into God knows what. You stay as long as you like. Do you think Olivia will move out?"

Roger swelled a frown. "That's just it. She's going nowhere, Cory. She's with Ravi-" He sucked in a breath as the tears came. Of course, they both put their arm around him.

It wasn't enough. Would there ever be anything enough for him out there?

  1. I dunno if Cory and Demetri were the right ones to go to.

  2. I think he would have been better keeping things to himself for the time being. sometimes involving too many people in your problems can spell disaster! :/
