deal with it

"So what do you think?" Roger was all smiles about the idea of the two of them going to his Dad's for dinner. Soon.

Roger had just gotten in from work and was shucking his work clothes for something more comfortable. Actually, he just waned to live in his boxers, but Doyle was waiting for him to put on his pants. It just didn't feel right talking about dinner with his Dad, or at least Doyle thought.

"I guess." He shrugged. There was his Mom to worry about. They had not exactly been speaking to each other.

"You know, my Dad is fine with us. He just thinks I'm trying to hide something." Roger rolled his eyes as he finally slipped into so treck pants. "I dunno what. He's crazy, sometimes."

"I see." Doyle grinned wondering if the craziness ran in the family.

"And then there is my Mom, but we'd have to go almost to St. Louis to see her, but I said we would, you know, if you want." Roger seemed pretty set on Doyle being family now.

Doyle just nodded. Of course, deep inside he felt terrible for letting his mother down, but he didn't want to be miserable for the rest of his life, either ..without anyone. Even so, she was giving him a bit of misery with her silent treatment.

"Look, have you even tried to talk to her?" Roger looked at him then.

"Yes." He'd made an effort. She'd never pick up. He hated this feeling that he was so bad in her eyes.

"Tell you what. When is her favorite mass?" Roger  wanted to know.

"She usually goes on Saturdays at 5." Doyle remembered.

"We should go." Roger nodded.

"The both of us?" Doyle winced.

"Yeah, why not?" Roger squinted back.

"I dunno." She might have an outburst of some sort. "What if she outed the both of us, right then and there?"

"So." Roger smiled as if he'd love it if she did.

Doyle thought he might have a panic attack. He didn't know if he was ready for the rest of the world to know he was gay.

  4. I think Doyle needs to be comfortable enough with himself to have more people know.
