get back to where you started from

The first couple of shows had been  pretty much family oriented with all age shows. Elliot guessed. Of course, it was hard work getting everything out of the bus, set up and then to break it all down after a show. That part could be back breaking. But doing the show, well, that was a new high, all in itself.

It was exhilarating. And he knew Amanda enjoyed it too. The crowd loved her. And she ate it up. Evidently, because she was giving them what they wanted in every note she sang.

"See, you haven't froze yet." He reminded her.

Thank God, for the big bed in the back of the bus. It was great to have their own space and yes, they'd had some fun, even when Amanda started out so strictly sleeping. And now it wasn't. Which made him pretty happy. Of course, getting on the road didn't always make him happy. But Amanda had a way of always making it, a little better to get the next day started.

Really, they were getting along perfectly. Of course, Derrick was another story. He went on and on about how he didn't like Roger who wasn't taking any of this, seriously. Sometimes, Elliot had to wonder if this had anything to do with Roger. As usual, Derrick could make things complicated. But they were getting used to the grind of it. And of course, moving on across the state.

And then they hit the Grassroots festival.

Immediately, Elliot had to wonder if they were at the right place. It could have been a nudist colony for all Elliot knew when he drove into the festival grounds which was just a meadow by a lake. It really did have a Woodstock feel about it.

"Honey, are you sure this is it?" Elliot just stopped the bus, not sure where to go next. Amanda showed him the paperwork. Yeap, this was the Grassroots festival, and it was clear to see everyone was getting back to their roots at this festival. There was definitely an earthy vibe going on here.
