moving on

Asa looked at his watch. He didn't see himself going back to work. Today. He was at the doctor's office with Amanda. He doubted they'd keep her over night. But her bronchitis was bad. Seriously, she needed some antibiotics. She sat there a bit lethargic, coughing ever so often.

Asa didn't know who to call. Did Elliot even care? He was being a real jack ass, as far as Asa was concerned. Elliot wouldn't talk to Amanda. He'd just look at her when she came to visit. Act as if he didn't even know her. It was just ridiculous. And Asa wasn't going to get into it, with Elliot's parents. Here he was their nephew, and they were mad at him. This accident was his fault, according to them.

He listened. Even though he had wanted to scream at them. MAYBE THIS WAS NO ACCIDENT! Maybe Elliot had done it on purpose. Of course, they'd say Asa was the crazy one then. He didn't know. He doubted he'd ever get to the bottom of it. But he was certain that Amanda was fragile. And he had no intention of trying to bring up anything, about Elliot.

Finally they got the prescription and made a trip to Wal-greens. He picked up a few of her favorite tees and a new winter tam and scarf. It was cheap. But the makeup, wasn't.

"Look, lets get you better. I found out they are looking for a new secretary at the high school. You should apply." It might not be the exact same salary as what Elliot made, but he was pretty sure between the two of them, they could manage a house payment, possibly. Life would go on, with or without Elliot.

Amanda  looked at him as if she weren't in the mood for games. She hugged herself. She had a temp and couldn't talk. He grabbed some nail polish, lipstick to match, that was on sale. Something, grownup. Things would get better. They had too.

  5. that is nice that Asa is caring for Amanda. I had bronchitis once and it was not a fun time, so he is being really considerate. I think that anyone who is sick really needs that.
