coming around

Kayla chewed a finger nail while she listened.

At first, she was so sure Asa was going admit to he had feelings for her. She so did not see that coming. Perhaps it had to do with being wrapped up in this business with Oliver and the little cafe, downtown. It was really taking off. He was so busy, and he need her for all his decisions, everything from taste testing, to how the seating should be in the little place. Had she missed something? Did Asa have feelings for her?

And then he got to talking about Amanda.

Kayla nursed her dry upper lip. She didn't know what he wanted to hear.

"Its kind of funny." But he wasn't laughing. "I mean, I've been listening to Elliot's parents and even Amanda's brother. They all thought I was, you know, doing something with Amanda, like the moment we met." He was quiet then, studying the tiles on the floor. "It didn't happen that way. It didn't. I mean, a part of me was all, well, if everybody believes it..why not. Just do it. Then." He sighed. "I mean, that's not what I mean." He squinted hard then. "Am I an awful person?"

"I wouldn't say awful, but it would be better if..if she was divorced from your cousin." Kayla shrugged.

"I know." He winced. "Its just.... I just want everything to be better for her. You know, to show her she means so much to me. And I don't want to see her hurt, anymore. I don't. " He nursed his bottom lip then.

Kayla slightly smiled. She was glad it  was more than just sex. "Just admit you love her."
