"I dunno what to do." Doyle finally mustered up the nerve to say.
"You-" Sam stopped. He really didn't know his situation. There was always home. Wasn't there?
"I'm not seeing my mother." Doyle shook his head.
"I guess, you can come home with us." Sam nodded. How much trouble could that be? Everyone had gone home who'd stayed during the storm. There was room. Doyle shook his head.
"Look, I bet we could, you know, buy us a house, and..and you could move in with me and Elliot. Maybe even, Kyle, too." Sam thought that sounded perfect.
"Sam, do you know how hard it is to buy a house?" Kyle looked over at him.
"Well, if we all pitched in. It could be one of those fixer-ups. You know." Sam shrugged.
"Elliot has a house. He's married, even if its not much of a marriage." His brother's calloused sentiments hit Sam hard. Kyle drove onward on the slick snow covered interstate.
"He's gonna let Amanda have the house." Sam informed him.
"You don't know that." Kyle was gruff. Sam looked out at the snow covered fields.
"Sure sounds like it to me." Sam told him.
"Great." Kyle sighed. "You know, I work in Lincoln."
"I do too." Doyle finally nodded.
"Then you two should move in together." Sam suggested.
Doyle looked over at Kyle who kept his eye on the road. Didn't seem like anything was gonna change Kyle's world, anytime soon, or at least Sam guessed.
