somewhere in the middle

"So, you're saying you knew about the car, all along?" Sam snatched another chocolate chip cookie from the teacher's lounge as he was sitting with Elliot about a quarter of, before school started.

"Yeah. The bank called right away." Elliot nodded. "And, I-I knew I did some bad things, so..you know, she might as well do some bad things. After all, she did need a better car."

"But-" Sam lowered his voice then. "She's with your cousin now."

"Yeap." Elliot really didn't want to dwell on. But that kiss. It was fresh on his mind. Still. Maybe there was something..between them. Maybe not. It wasn't like he'd expected a celebration when he came back. "I know you think I'm an idiot. But..but do you know how hard it is..Starting over? I don't want a divorce."

"Well, how will you know..if..if you don't try." Sam looked at him. "You might like one. You don't have any kids. I mean, you'd be free, man."

Unfortunately, that's what choked Elliot up the most. He'd never started his own family. He wished he had.

  2. I do feel bad for him. But I'm glad Sam is on his side. But Elliot might not know that.
