code ... wedding dress

Kayla cringed when she saw the dress Estelle wanted her to wear at the wedding. It was a cheap imitation of Princess Di's wedding dress. It was so 80's and awful with those silly puffy sleeves.

"It doesn't cost anything." Oliver smiled, but it was weak too. He even knew how hideous it looked.

"If I'd only known, I could have gone to that big wedding dress sale back in March." She sighed as she kept the dress in the box. She didn't want to look at it anymore. She sat down on the bed next to it. She was totally bummed about this, but she didn't want to act like a mad bride-zilla, either.

"We'll think of something." He gave her a pat on the back. "How about we take this to Syd and tell her to fix it."

"She can't fix that." Kayla winced.

"She might know someone who could." He got out his cell and made the call. Told her the situation. He was on his cell for an awful long time in the livingroom. Kayla laid across the bed trying to relax. It had been a long day. Her feet were tired from standing most of it at the circulation counter. Sure, people told her all the time she had the luckiest job in the world. No one knew about pesky patrons who couldn't find anything in the library, or they were angry about overdues. She'd had worst days, but thinking about the wedding and all to do with it had manifested into this pimple of a problem that needed to be popped. But really, she hadn't the energy to do it. So she laid there, with her head hanging off the bed so she could see the world upside down or maybe as it really seemed to be at the moment.

"Well, she think's Olivia, could help. But we'd have to go right now. She'll need time to ..fix it." He came back in with that silly smile of his that she'd never thought of as mischievous until now.

"What is going on?"Kayla jerked herself up, twisted around and looked at him out of the corner of her eye. She'd worked all day. All she wanted was a grilled cheese sandwich and a bowl of hot tomato soup, a shower, then bed.

"Come on. We have to do this now. I'll even drive." He grabbed the box. It was as if he couldn't wait to get out of the door.

"Really?" This was a surprise. He only drove when he had to. "She gave me directions?" He told her it wasn't that far from Syd and Eric's. They would find Roger's house where Olivia lived.

"You know how much you like directions?" She reminded him as she slipped into her flip-flops.

He opened the door for her and then locked up the apartment. "That's why I need you along."

Kayla rolled her eyes. Really, she was so tired to do this, but Oliver was so excited. His new mission, to get this dress to her liking.
