making a house a home
"Do you think your brother had to marry her?" Kyle's mother at least came over to help with the room makeover. Kyle went in and cleaned up the mess before she got there. Actually, he culled out the dirty clothes and other sinky things as soon as Sam and Rachel left. The place had been vacuumed and fumigated. He'd already put down a plush ocean blue rug at the foot of the bed.
"Had to?" Kyle pondered. "What do you mean by that?" He winced. Really, she wasn't that much help. He'd been putting in a wall unit of shelving, drawers and extra storage space together on one side of the room.
"You know what I mean?" His mother was serious. "Is she pregnant?"
"Mom, I highly doubt that." Kyle sighed as he went back to work while his mom started to get out some new curtains that matched a new comfort set she'd gotten them. This was going to be their oasis, according to his Mom. Although, Kyle knew she was pretty upset that Sam had never introduced her to Rachel or anything. Still she went to work on making the place cozy and sweet for newlyweds.
About then Rox showed up with a basket of shampoos and soaps. It was from the salon where she worked. Instantly his Mom stopped what she was doing. Kyle was certain that his Mom was going to say something to Rox like. "I know who you are. You're that girl Kyle used to hide in his room, aren't you?" But luckily she didn't.
Kyle felt as if he could re-introduce Rox, all over. "This is Jai's mother." Kyle told her. His mother definitely knew who Jai was. Rosie was always talking about him and had even brought him to his Mom's house a few times, too.
"Oh yes, Jai. How is he?" Kyle's Mom asked.
Rox just smiled. "His usual wonderful self. Always talking about Rosie." She went to help his mother get the sheets changed. The place was starting to look like a couple's bedroom.
