the ups and downs of newlweds

It was great news. Kayla supposed.

Estelle had left the shop to Oliver. Including the flat up above. It was their place.

"You should be excited." Kayla was so happy for Oliver, but he looked so tired. Not at all himself. He hadn't been since the wedding. Perhaps Estelle's passing had taken a toll on him. If only she could get him to talk about it. The other thing was getting him in to see a doctor.

That took some doing. Everyone got in on how he should go. From his father, to both Ian and Eric. He really needed to find out what was wrong. It had to be more than just a rash on his face.

Naturally, he complained he didn't like hospitals. And the insurance. What insurance? He fretted about it more than finding a job. Well, now he had a job.

"If you don't take care of yourself, who'll run the place? People want you back. They ask about you all the time down at the library. They know who you are, Oliver. And they love your food." It was hard being his cheerleader. She knew he was depressed. "I just don't want anything BAD to happen to you. We just got started."

This wasn't the way she wanted to start the marriage. As it was, they all had to go down to the flat above the cafe and take a peak of their new home. Of course, it was just as Estelle had left it. Stuffy, and an old woman's head quarters, packed with shelves of old books and empty Avon bottles, along with vintage furniture. The kitchen was small, but the bedroom was big and there was an extra one to which of course, was more of a collection of perfume bottles.

Kayla wanted to imagine the possibilities here, but she couldn't quite let herself. Oliver needed to find out what was wrong with himself. As it was, he was just going to go downstairs and have the scones ready for tomorrow. It was business as usual.
