untieing the knots
"What I want to say." Kyle didn't go away yet. "You have to start thinking about Asa, in all this. I know you're mad at him too. But could you, go easy on him?"
"What do you mean?" Derrick sighed, wanting a major nap, but in two hours he needed to be at work, and he knew he couldn't dare call in sick. Henry was on his mind, as well as Dorian.
"How can you be oblivious to all this?" Kyle's face tensed. "Asa is under a lot of pressure. You need to spend more time with him. You need to be at home. You have to help out."
Derrick didn't mean to ignore him. But he did have a life, too. He couldn't spend every moment with Josie. Besides, she had a job. And he knew where her free time went. With Ian.
"I'm sorry. I'll try better." Derrick promised. At the moment, it felt hopeless to try. What was he suppose to say to Henry now? To anyone?
Kyle finally gave him a hug. Derrick closed his eyes, and for a moment he wondered if Amanda was actually watching them. It was just a split second. He wouldn't bring her up. If she were here, he was sure she would be mad at him, too.
As soon as Kyle left, Derrick dropped himself on the bed, wishing to fall asleep immediately. But the first person he thought of was Dorian. Not Henry. Derrick squinted hard, wishing he could think about Henry.
Derrick stared at the ceiling, wanting his mind to go blank. But Dorian crept into his thoughts, anyway. He remembered his skin, his touch. He hated himself that he wanted to believe Dorian would do what he said. Yet, there was such doubt. Why should he risk it?
Asa showed up before Derrick could completely relax.
"You, want to tell me what's going on?" Asa looked at him, unsure Derrick would tell him anything.
"Yeah, I want to talk." Derrick set up. However, it might not be what Asa thought he wanted to talk about.
