a likely story
"She's engaged." Dorian was serious. Of course, he had found no one to be comfortable with at the disco. He was worse at these silly dance moves than Luc. But it was over, and they were outside walking miles to find Luc's car. Luc asked Olivia if she wanted to hang out after the disco closed, but she couldn't. Now he knew why.
Yes, he felt a little hurt now. Who knew he'd ever be this excited about a lesbian.
"Don't mention it to Lynsey, OK?" He knew she'd have a big laugh over this. She was the worst friend in the world.
It felt like a moment with Olivia. Now, he had to think of it as nothing. He knew to let it go. It was a dream with no possibility. Yet, it felt like something.
"Shit, I gave her my phone number." Luc winced hard. He hadn't even had to try to please her in the least. It was as if they were on the same wave length. Why couldn't he meet someone like that? No drama. No baggage. Something so innocent... now it left him with a bad feeling.
"She probably won't call." Dorian shrugged.
"Probably right." Luc needed to forget the fun night with the girl who was probably making out with her girlfriend now. Luc unlocked the car and they got in. "Sorry, you didn't meet anyone." Luc said when he started up his little car. "It was probably me. I mean, that's why I started talking to Olivia, anyway. I was just trying to give you a chance, to..."
"But, I don't want to talk to anyone new." Dorian's face tensed.
"You haven't even heard back from Derrick. You have to at least, try. You, can move on. You're in college now."
"I dunno." Dorian shook his head. "Its just.." He looked devastated.
"You have to get out there and meet people. I'm not saying, sleep with them. You, need to find someone who wants to have fun with you. You know?" Now he was back to thinking about Olivia. Yeah, that was the kind of fun he was thinking of. Where someone's smile was an energy you couldn't wait to be a part of.
