unraveling the threads

"How did this happen?" Josie was still confused on how Henry exactly found out about Shan going to Cedric's.

She was needing some last minute advice on her dress for the dance. She'd stopped by the library to let him look at her photoshots on her cell.

"He told me." Henry shrugged.

"You're such an idiot." She simply glared back. "How could you be mad at him..if he told you?"

"I couldn't help it." He looked really down. "I couldn't." He still looked as if he might be consumed with some sort of bitter pill with bad side affects.

"There has to be more to it, than that." She kept glaring as if he needed to tell her everything. Even the little things bothering him.

"Dad, lost his job." Henry slightly scowled.

"And..you're taking it out on Shannon." She pursed her lips as if she knew a thing or two about this kind of thing, being mad at the wrong people.

"I'm not." Henry shot her a look that it had nothing to do with his Dad being back, even if Henry was grounded. "Its just..why? Why can't he let Mom do her job...with me."

Josie couldn't help but laugh, a little.

"OK, it sucks about Audrey and Aidan's wedding. I mean, come on, couldn't they have a real wedding? Its not like she's pregnant or anything, you know." Henry confessed as he rolled his eyes in disgust.

"You're having a really bad week, Henry." She clasped her hand over his. Finally, he looked at the short glittery dresses on her phone.

"Just don't wear black, OK? You're pretty in pink." He told her.

"So, do you want me to keep an eye on Shan?" Josie asked.

"God, I hope he won't go." Henry looked really sad then.

"I don't think its over, for you two." Josie didn't believe they were broke up for good.

"Its just..you know how Derrick was, like a disappearing act or something." Henry hugged himself in his very grandfather-like brown cardigan that he some how made hipster.

"Shan is not Derrick." Josie winced. "Don't even go there."
