Where you at

Eli found casting on impossible, even if Lena showed him what to do, like five seconds ago with the knitting needles. It was impossible.

"What's wrong?" She festered a pout.

He'd came to her that night after the fiasco at Dorian's, and watched a movie with her. He didn't tell her about Dorian. He didn't speak of it now.

Eli didn't want to dwell on Dorian, either.

"Its nothing." He shrugged, thinking he shouldn't have left Dorian, like that. Alone with that guy. He winced hard, knowing exactly what Dorian and Ruben had, wasn't anything like his moments with Dorian.

"You and Dorian have a fight?" She asked. She was in her knitted striped knee socks and her black shorts along with a slouchy beige sweater, studying on something to do with computer science. It was an actual book. Which Dorian found kind of funny, but not that funny to laugh about. Which he would have.. if he'd been in a good mood.

"It was nothing." Because apparently it was nothing with Dorian. Ruben was evidently a bonified lover while Eli guessed he wasn't really much of a boyfriend.

"Can you tell me what's going on?" She put down her book and took the needles from him before he made a big mess with the bright green yarn. "I don't even know why I let you do this." She put the needles away and went to rolling the yarn back in a big ball. She handed it over to make him do it.

"You really are ..." he caught himself from saying it exactly "like my sisters."

What was he doing? He wanted Dorian to be with him when he told her this stuff. They'd be at Lena's favorite coffee shop. He'd buy her favorite latte and she'd be munching on a muffin and he'd tell her the truth.

"Am I?" She looked at him as if he were about to say a joke. It took her a while to get him, but at least she hadn't given up on him.

"Look, I have not told you the truth." He closed his eyes delicately as he felt the yarn in his fingers. He could imagine the fabric being turned into comfortable socks.

"I know, you're in love with me and want me to have your children." Her lips parted with a smile.

"No, that's not it." He looked at her with that dead pan stare of his. "Just don't hate me, OK. Don't hate me, like my other sisters, do. But I know its true. Because ..just ask your grandmother. Because she's my grandmother too."

"What?" She looked at him with open eyes.

"Go ahead, call her. Nana knows all about it." He shrugged as he rolled yarn on the ball.

"First of all, I don't call my grandmother, Nana." She glared.

"Well, just call Delores Getti and she'll clear it up." He stared at her, ever so solemn.

"Dear God..." She made a fretful face. "Who in the hell are you?"

"I'm your brother." He tossed the ball in the yarn basket and got up as if she might not want to talk to him now. She picked up her cell and showed him the door. He supposed he'd let it be. For now.

His cell jingled a song from THE WHO. It was Dorian. Eli picked up on the second ring.

"Do you hate me?" Eli asked before Dorian could say anything. "I feel really..really bad. I..I..I just didn't know what to do, or think. I felt like, you know, I shouldn't be there. Like.... he was more important."

Dorian talked about the fact that he might have had sex with Ruben, but he didn't remember. It was back in September. He'd blacked out.

Eli squinted hard. He was more disgusted with Ruben than from before.

"Are you going to call the cops?" Eli wanted to know.

"I think its a little late for that. But he's gone. He's not here, Eli." Dorian told him.

Eli pressed his lips tight. He wanted to come over, but he wasn't sure if  he knew how to console him.

  1. Eli has always been a little off and strange. One wonders if its completely his fault. Hopefully, Lena will forgive him.

  2. Definitely bad timing. Eli has a way of doing that.
