I've been cool with being myself

empty words

"Now, they aren't going to make a big deal about it, you know..me being here?" Shan asked as they were almost to the photo part of Homecoming. It was a nice night and he was in a suit. He'd picked it out. Fish had nothing to do with it.

"No, of course not." Fish looked at him as he wasn't exactly a rebel without a cause.

Naturally, Syreeta and Sawyer left them early on, to meet up with some of their friends. Fish and Shan got in line for photos early. After all, Shan wanted his picture taken with him.

The music was playing. A few were already dancing. And that's when Shan noticed Henry with another guy.

He couldn't help but grimace.

"That didn't take long," Shan said as he hugged himself.

"You mean, Leo?" Fish looked at him. "He's cool."

"He's an asshole." Shan said under his breath. He couldn't look at them, even if they were only talking with some other teenagers.

"You, don't even know him. He's just a guy. Henry knows. He knew him before he even met you." Fish said so matter of fact.

"Right, you would know." Shan said ever so cold.

"They are just friends." Fish told him. "I think he's good for Henry."

Shan couldn't help but roll his eyes at the thought. He really didn't want to have Henry spoil the mood. He took Fish's hand. It was no big deal. Still he was actually mad at himself. There was no way he could ever be friends with Henry. He didn't want to be.
