our worlds collide

It was all sort of confusing.

Band was over as far as Leo was concerned. He'd marched his last game, and it was time to hang his hat up. So now it felt particularly weird to be outside of the school instead of at the band hall before school started. And who would be standing there, waiting for him?

Not Henry. But Vada.

She was looking chipper in a halter dress with a thermal white shirt underneath. Her leggins were barely visible under the knee length summer dress, and she was still wearing her summer shoes.

"Hey." He grinned as if he were suppose too. She was Henry's girlfriend, after all. Maybe she'd gotten wise and shed that mini-Henry who was always around. Was he the only one who noticed the resemblance?

"Good to see you." She was friendly, and not a word about Henry. "I was wondering, if..if maybe you'd be up for, um, a costume party. Its not this week or anything. Closer to Halloween."

"I dunno." His family didn't exactly celebrate Halloween. "What kind of party, is it?"

She told him StarWars.

"I thought, you might be Chewy and Henry would be Luke." She shrugged. "But you'd have to drive. Cause, Henry can't."

"Isn't Luke and Leia ..like brother and sister?" He winced as if he were suddenly figuring this out. He smiled as if he'd made a connection. Between, Henry and Vada. Finally. "So.." Leo squinted hard, once more. "Henry's like a brother..to you?"

"Yeah, he's like that." She nodded.

Somehow, it felt like a relief of some kind. Maybe. Still, he felt a little weird that it would be a relief to him.

"What about Cody? Is he coming?" Leo wanted to know.

"I don't think so." She told him.

"I kind of thought he was your Hans Solo." Leo shrugged.

"No." She shook her head, but he noticed that she saw who drove up in the parking lot in his fancy red sports car. Roman. "I don't really care for Hans Solo, much." But she did have her eye on Roman.
