Its not so bad

It's not so bad

"I gotta say, you look really happy." Ruben hadn't been this close to his brother Garvin in quite some time. After all, he was the quiet sort. Garvin had been rather depressed, actually. But he never let on about it. So maybe, it was never as serious as his Great Aunt let on. Besides, he was in Canada, not too terribly far away. He'd found some of Ruben's friends to stay with, while he worked on his photography.

And to think it was all because of some strange frog that had made a name for Garvin in the photography world. Now he worked for a nature magazine, as well as a science book publishing company. He was taking photos of field mice now. But at the moment, the two were having some face time on their iPhone.

"Its definitely not the cold here." Garvin gritted a smile.

"Well..." Ruben knew it had to be someone. Last he knew Garvin was mixed up with a woman twenty years older than he was, when he was living in Paris. "Who is she?"

"Why? Why do you think it has to be someone?" Garvin laughed, but he was suddenly serious. "She's just a friend."

"Oh, who you slept with?" He'd always imagined his brother such a playboy. Perhaps, he was thinking of himself, for a moment. He knew it wasn't quite as great as it was cracked up to be. Maybe, Garwin was showing he was growing up. Perhaps they were both better off now, finding true love.

"No." Garvin rolled his eyes at that. "You know, her."

"I do?" Ruben winced.

"At that Christmas party. You know, your boyfriend's best friend's family gathering." Garvin shrugged.

"Who?" Was Ruben missing something.

"Well..maybe I need to keep it hush..hush.." Garvin smirked.

"The one with the little girl?" Ruben squinted so. This did not look wise, but how could he tell Garvin, just how wrong this could be.

"We're just friends." He promised.

  1. He shouldn't feel the need to explain his friendships to anyone.
