no more Connor

running with the crowd

"What happened with you and Connor?" Rowdy's question stung Bree as she was pouring milk on her cereal. Granted it was two in the afternoon. Then again, she slept in since school was out.

After all, she'd put the past behind her, some time ago.

"What do you mean?" She looked at him who was getting to last night's dishes from the dishwasher.

"Oh, I dunno. Isn't he your boyfriend?" He looked like that curious old dog she knew. Gray around the edges, but still a kid at heart.

"That was way before prom. We're so over." She told him as she went to her cornflakes, wishing she'd let herself have a bit of sugar. "You've met Simon."

"Simon?" He looked miffed as he went on, to put away the dishes.

She nodded. Not that she really wanted to go into any details, but Simon did save her from a lot of grief. There he was in the school hallway. The day she found out Connor was just too cozy with that Jade in the commons.

She'd watched their fingers touch. And his smile said it all. Oh, how she'd wanted to stamp that out like a cigarette in a NO SMOKING zone, but she'd snatched up Simon like a lost puppy, that needed a home.

Simon took her to prom. After all, he'd just broken up with some girl who was going to a University back east.

She knew Rowdy would tell her that she got off easy. How could she be so indifferent. Didn't they have a history? She and Connor?

"Simon is the best." She went on to say as if  it was a quick bandaid for her broken heart. Maybe he was superglue. She wanted to say he'd fixed things. But the matter remained... Simon might be as oblivious as Connor.

  1. I do hope she doesn't break Simon's heart. It seems like things with Connor were never fully ended. :/

  2. I don't think it is a good idea to jump into another relationship when you have just broken up... you just end up hurting all involved....
