Only a few hours ago

The baby slept soundly in Josie's arms. She sighed with a smile. It was all so calm, then her mother wanted to see her. She was barely 2 hours old.

Immediately, the infant cried when Camille took her. Even so, Camille promised she'd love her forever, and kissed her on the forehead. Camille quickly gave her back to Josie. Her mother was apologetic.

"I know you love her." Although, Josie hadn't planned on anyone touching her so soon, but Allie calmed down once she was with Josie.

Josie couldn't say it, but Allie knew. Josie could sense it. Allie knew who her mother was. And it felt good, like two peas in a pod, nesting.

But Josie was starving.

Henry was already looking over the menu from the hospital kitchen.

"Didn't you say, you wanted the Mac and Cheese?" He looked at her, as if he'd put the order in.

"No." She did feel a little weak around the edges, but she would know way, let Allie down. "I'm thinking cheese burger and fries. A vanilla milk shake too." She was practically shaking with hunger pains. The food couldn't come fast enough. Allie was hungry too. Of course, the lactation coach hadn't made it to their room, yet.

It was so hard to be patience, but there was Henry ready to take the baby from her. He'd put the order in.

Funny, how she felt so drained, yet excited. She couldn't help but smile. She loved watching the two of them together.

"You, aren't going to leave tonight, are you?" She asked.

"No, I'm not going anywhere." His smile turned into a yawn. "Honestly, I might go to sleep while holding her, but she's so beautiful.."

Sleep could wait. She wanted the infant back. She wanted to look at her toes once more. Her fingers too. The infant slumbered as Josie watched her. She wanted to take her all in, again. "I love you." Josie said. "I love you, very much."
