"Well..would you want to?" Keith could give it a try. After all, suddenly, he was right where he wanted to be. Alone with Holly. The pizza party parted, ever so suddenly.
"Want to what?" She winced, maybe perturbed. They were on the street. It was dark.
He looked at his watch. Was it really after 1 a.m.? It didn't feel like it.
She dug into the pockets of her ripped jeans.
Everything she did was lovely. Keith decided.
"I dunno. You, tell me?" It didn't look like he'd get very far with her.
"Look." She glared at him as if no one EVER put her on the spot. "I got me, a man, and he wouldn't like what you're getting at."
"What am I getting at?" Soon they were walking together toward the campus. "You, wouldn't have to tell him."
She gnashed her teeth as if she might show her fangs.
"I don't want to regret anything." She looked away.
"You're thinking too much." Did he say it twice? He might have.
She reached over and kneed him, the side of his knee. He winced hard and almost fell over.
"Mind your manners, will ya, now?" She walked on, didn't even wait for him to catch up.
"Where are you going?" He called after her. She wasn't going to the Uni, after all.
"Somewhere, without you." She looked over her shoulder. At that moment, he knew if he got any closer, she would kick him where it would really hurt.
