what was it, anyway

what was it, anyway?

Brittany thought she'd let it go, when she was out to lunch with her sister, when the subject of Julia came up. There was nothing to discuss. Beside's Julia wasn't married to Theo's father, anymore. And..

Well, she shook the thought. Julia had never approached her. She hadn't wanted to see the baby when she was married to Teddy.

Things like this..needed to be left alone. Didn't Tiffany know this?

Brit decided to stay mute. Discuss, more important things, like her sister's wedding.

But Tiffany didn't want to discuss it.

"I wonder if she's really happy with that guy?" She was mainly talking to herself, but Carson heard her, who was reading the newspaper at the dining table.

They had some alone time at Carson's mother's house. Brit decided she might make some lemonade. It had been sunny earlier, now it looked like rain.

"Oh, its nothing." She shrugged.

"It must have been something." He got up and put the paper away. He looked at her as if he needed to go the grocery store to get her something.

He was a bit of the nervous sort. Perhaps it was his job that kept him on edge, but he was on an easy route these days. He was always home by five.

However, he did have to take care of horses. He rode one in the old market, these days, when he was on duty.

"Its my sister." She pressed her lips tight.

"What did she do this time?" Carson had never liked her from the beginning, and she did like the idea that he would always be on her side, when it came to Tiffany.

"She didn't do anything." Brit winced as if she wished he'd stop saying things like that about her. "I just..thought she would talk about her wedding." Tiffany felt her stomach flinch as if she needed to remember something. She winced, wondering what it could be. Well, there were the cookies to make. She never did find the lemons, to begin with. She looked to see that she had turned on the oven.

She rested her hand on her pregnant stomach and exercised her neck a bit, then yawned.

Theo was taking a nap.

She pressed her lips, to ponder, if it was anything else.

"Oh yeah.." like a bubble popping above her..it came to her. And she laughed as if it was the funniest thing.

"What?" Carson looked at her as if she better wait until he found pencil and paper to write it down.

Oh, she just couldn't stop the giggles.

"Julia..she's dating Tiffany's ex." Brit's smile was open.

"What?" He winced hard. He told her that was impossible. That guy was in jail.

"No, not that one." Brit winced as if she really wished Carson would actually listen to her. She put her hands on her back and did her own kind of yoga move to stretch. "You know, the Chinese guy."

"He's not Chinese." Carson winced harder and shook his head, no.

"Well, whatever." Brit would have stomped his foot if it was close enough. She sighed. "I bet she doesn't want that Gordon guy to know about him."

"You know, I think Gordy is Asian." Carson nodded as if he was the wiser one, here.

Brit rolled her eyes and went to find the eggs. It was true they were from two different worlds. She wondered if they were ever on the same page, about anything. But, it didn't matter. They still found a way to have some fun, from time to time.
