bluer than blue

bluer than blue

Valentina was ecstatic that Simon invited her to homecoming. He would drive...and everything.

"Oh, I dunno." Her mother said she had enough to worry about with Ollie. "He's a senior. You're my baby." In spite of her mother's words, Valentina knew her mother would let her go.

"It's Simon." Valentina smiled. She remembered how her mother went on and on what a sweet boy she'd met. Her mother  had made plenty of suppers for him now. Valentina knew her mom got a little joy out of meeting her friends.

Then..there was Ollie, so sullen and definitely quiet.

Truth be told..they were all a little frightened of him. He could lash out, sometimes. Honestly, Valentina knew he could be too much to handle.

And now that her parents had got a phone call from Ivy's parents, it felt as if it were a matter of time before Ollie went off the deep end.

He was practically under house arrest now. No way, did she want to be happy around him.

She knew how disgruntled he was from the looks he would give her and Simon. Still, she hated to see him this way.

"What would it take? For you be happy?" She'd asked Ollie days ago on their way to school.

Naturally, he said nothing.

She didn't hate him, yet he did have a way of not letting her be truly happy. Perhaps it was the thought of guilt that pressed her heart so. She didn't want him to go away, yet it felt like he was a ticking time bomb.

Of course, her mom did some serious talk with Ollie.

1. he needed patiences.
2. if he did love Ivy he'd let her go.
3. time mended all things.

But..her mother might as well have been talking to the wall. Ollie barely acknowledged she was there.

Still, there must have been something that kept Ollie from becoming a disaster, but what could it be?

Valentina tried to focus on the dress her mother wanted to alter for the homecoming occasion. Still, in the back of her mind, she hoped Ollie wasn't planning to ruin homecoming.

  1. I hope Ollie doesn't ruin homecoming either ... that would be sad ...
