what good brothers do

what good brothers do

Joon should have known, what he was here for. They needed someone to show this guy around.

Joon did his best when he met Dole. They shook hands. He was very American in Joon's eyes.

"I haven't lived here, all that long myself." Joon winced, thinking this Dole would be better off with Natalie driving him around, but she was gushing over the baby. She was all smiles.

Joon watched her giddiness as she held the baby so clumsy. Dole's wife had just nursed the baby and was happy to pass her off to someone. She showed Natalie how to hold the baby up to her breast, even if the baby was with a pacifier.

"Sit and snuggle." Winnie told her the baby loved cuddles.

Of course, Ivy informed Dole, Joon was from Seoul, but he'd lived here over a year.

Joon looked at her, thinking it felt much longer. It felt like two, maybe three years.

"Um, we..." He pointed to Natalie, "We have an apartment together."

"You're her boyfriend." Ivy shot him a look. Joon bit a grin. Dole smiled with a nod.

"We, just moved in..together.." He was a little coy. "And I'm starving." Joon barely said above a whisper as he excused himself to the kitchen.

"Oh, I have a boyfriend." Ivy mentioned to Dole. "Will's still in high school. He works at the library."

Dole nodded as if he'd like to go to the library. He then walked into the kitchen.

"I swear, you two could be brothers." Ivy smiled. "I mean, you guys even walk the same."

Joon looked over his shoulder and swelled a frown at Ivy as he reached for a bowl, to get himself some rice and spicy chicken stew.

Dole reached in the fridge as if he didn't hear Ivy's comment. He got some cold tea from the fridge.

"I..I used to live here." Joon reminded Dole that he knew where everything was in the kitchen.

Joon guessed he would do his best to be Dole's friend, since he didn't know anyone and looked as if he was pretty much a stay at home dad.

"Do you go to the University?" Joon asked between spoonful of stew. Honestly, he couldn't get enough of it. He missed Leila's cooking. In fact, it was better than his mother's.

Dole shook his head, no. He mentioned about a company he used to work for. "But they had to cut back. I'm a pharmacist."

Joon looked at him, guessing he was older than he thought he was.
