Born on the 4th of July

Ivy didn't know if she could keep this up much longer. Hiding Brian in her room. She gave Will so many excuses. Thankfully, he trusted she was busy with Winnie and Dole's Bella. Of course, he had to work too.

So when she sneaked out with Brian on the 4th of July, late that night, the last thing she expected to hear him say was that today was his birthday.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?" She asked.

"Because you've given me so much already." His smile was open as if he was happy to be in her bed with her these past few days.

Ivy sighed, feeling a little uneasy. They'd gotten away with so much, could this possibly be the end? Soon enough, they found a place not far from the swollen river to watch the fireworks. Of course, she could see the lightning in the dark clouds. Nature had a way of getting its own way.

The Missouri river was on the rise. Campgrounds nearby were washed out. It was still muggy, too.

"What's the matter?" Brian asked. He squeezed her tight, and she let him.

But her mind was cluttered. She felt certain they'd done a bad thing. Still, she wasn't quite sure what it was.

Yes, she was the worst girlfriend ever. She'd neglected to reply to his texts and let his phone calls go to voicemail. She felt about as restless as the hot wind. How much longer could she get away with this? She was certain she would be in the eye of the storm, soon.
