Gabby paced back and forth in Ste's small room. It was unlocked, and in spite of the sunlight... it was very cold.
She winced thinking of Carter in such a bloody circumstance. What had she done? It was as if the shock of reality weighed her down like a ton of bricks.
Ste was a psycho.
She shook the thought. Told herself NO. Not Ste.
Yes, he was silent and brooding, but..but not this. He was a good man. He was honest. He was nice..yet oh so..mysterious.
Perhaps, he was as complicated as she was. Or was it..she was good at making things complicated?
When Ste finally arrived, she threw herself on him. Maybe for forgiveness. Maybe it was love.
Whatever, she never wanted to see him so angry.
"Don't..don't hate me." She said and cried into his thick sweater. "I..I ..he..he..didn't mean..a thing."
She thought she might have seen Ste smile. It was hard to say. Honestly, he looked sad as he brushed her pink locks away from her tear drenched face.
"Do you mean it?" His cold words haunted her.
She nodded, as if he would be the only one to keep her line. She would never be wayward, again.
When he grabbed her wrists, it started with a comfort, but then she realized how trapped she felt. Her limbs ached. She was certain she might cave in.
"I'll be good to you, if..if you'll be good to me." His words were a force she could not forget.
She nodded. He pushed her to the thin bed.
Gabby was certain he might torment her, but he turned from her instead as if he needed to compose himself before he went mad.
"You, don't really know me, do you?" He looked over his shoulder as she pushed herself up on her elbows. Gabby looked at him blankly.
"I know..I should..stay away from you. Nothing good can come of us." He nodded. "But..but when you do..." He shook his head no, unsure if he could even explain it. "I know..I've already made my bed..and now..I have sleep in it..with you."
His words were so cold. It was if they were the only two left on earth who would face the madness out there.
"I never slept with a girl before. I don't intend to find another." He told her. When he glared back at her, it was then she knew she was stuck with him.
