little reflections

Xander watched Josie with the baby. She made it so easy, the way she held him up and looked into his eyes with a broad smile.

She put him on his tummy on the flat blanket. Immediately, he struggled to keep his head up with a push from his fist and arms. It was like watching a little turtle.

He smiled as he got on his stomach too, to have a closer look.

"Thanks," Xander told Josie.

"Oh, its nothing." She was even lipped.

"But it is..I would..I would have never thought.." Xander sighed, thinking of how it was when he was baby. He even imagined Simon being stuck in an infant seat. Suddenly, he felt sad. So much he needed to do for his brother, even if he was a lanky teenager. He was moved to tears. Still, he loved being here with the baby.

"Don't sale yourself short." Josie told him. You're keeping the baby close to your heart. They need that too.

It was simple. They needed love.

He sat up and crossed his legs. He leaned back on his hands and sighed.

"I'm worried about..about Dakota now." He gritted. "I know Joey wants her to live with them..but..but they don't even have a room for her, you know."

"I'm sure it will happen soon. You said, she wouldn't be living with them, until school's out." Josie said there was still time. After all, there was the wedding to worry about.

"Liv's pregnant." Xander hadn't been told, but he knew.

"I hope Joey keeps working." She shrugged. That seemed to be the only thing Josie remember about Joey, who was just a bum to her.

Xander couldn't help but smile. It was true.
