when Bom met Cody

It was a long time coming. Bom was hopeless. She'd heard it from her Dad, experienced it from failing time after time from the test to get a good government job. It was a never-ending story which left her blue and perhaps with an unhealthy outlook.

Oh, she knew where she was going. To find, Joon. Although, she knew all about his new life with Natalie. She could hardly call what she'd had with Joon a relationship. So as soon as she set foot in the states, she knew she needed to start over and get away from the past. Hopefully, something would work out.

But when Cody opened the door in the wee hours of the morning and not Liam, she couldn't help but smile. It was like seeing her future. Of course, he didn't say much but stumbled back to bed and she followed him as if they might be getting ready for a space odyssey.

It was only sleep.

Still, it was a certain bliss she couldn't quite put her finger on. Sure, it was jet lag, but it was so comfortable to be in his room. She would like to stay, but she didn't say so.

Naturally, he might as well have been a neanderthal. She didn't get much of a conversation out of him. He was in his flannel pants and not much more. He grunted something about going to Thanksgiving with someone and she could have his bed, if she wanted, since she was Liam's big sister.

She wanted to laugh, but she smiled. Maybe that was true. She guessed Liam gave him an earful about her. She didn't really know.

Of course, Liam was the snob as he always was when he saw her and Cody. She decided to keep it a mystery. He could think the worst. He always did.

Bom nixed Thanksgiving at Joon's. She knew it was last minute to attend, even if she did make an appearance at Joon and Natalie's.

"I'm so tired," Bom said she wasn't hungry. Although, she scrummaged the kitchen to find some dry chicken noodle soup after Liam left. She sufficed with that along with an egg, making stovetop soup.

It wasn't long until Cody showed up. He hadn't gone out of town like he said.

He mentioned something about a stomach ache and didn't want to chance it. Bom brought him lemon and ginger in hot water. Of course, he only held the cup and looked at it as if he didn't know how to drink it.

She promised he'd feel better if he took it. Of course, he was straight lipped and didn't say much more than before he left.

She didn't want to ask much of him. She wanted to stay but didn't want to make a big deal about it.
