be merry and bright!
Tiffany's mom wore her out with all her talk about family. Her mom reminded her of how bad her own family was. How her mother's parents died at such a young age and how she'd been to shipped with one relative and then the next. "Is that how you won't your own children to remember you?"
Her mother's question stung her to the core of her being. She didn't want to be sad. She wanted to be happy. If only she could believe in herself.
1. Tiffany thought Gordy was too good for her.
2. He just seemed to get better with age. Nothing phased him. He was a hard worker, a loving husband who had been abandoned as a child by his father when his mom died at child birth. Yes, Tiffany knew he'd been through a lot too.
3. She knew her son Brick had been through so much with her and his father that he was such an old soul at an early age.
So she went home to her family. She needed to be the grownup she should be. She helped them decorate the tree. She and Brick made Christmas cookies. And of course, she sang Christmas carols to baby Beth.
She had to believe in herself because they believed in her.
