Here comes the winter blast

Well, it had happened. Funny, how good intentions start something else.

"Jake just needed his own room, you know." Will found himself trying to explain this to Evan while they were shelving books at the library. "I mean, none of us had had a good night's sleep." He shrugged. Of course, that was the beginning of the big crying spell that had been a waste of their time for three nights. Then Thanksgiving came and that was a tiring event, going to her grandmother's at lunch and then dinner to his Dad's.

Will was so afraid, it would start all over with Jake, who ate too many rich foods and then pooped for quite a while leaving a red rash on his butt. He'd gone out in the wee hours to find something at the drug store for his rash. When Will got home, Jake was asleep. Naturally, Lux said it wouldn't last long, but they went to bed to wait and got warm together and spooned in their matching flannel P.J.s that her grandmother gave to them as an early Christmas present.

"It really wasn't all that romantic," Will confessed to Evan above a whisper.

"Oh really?" Evan gave him a dead stare that he might be lying to himself.

Will pressed his lips tight. Yes, they'd kissed. More than once. Each time was better. Yes, it was best not to tell Evan everything.

"I think you two are a couple now." Evan pointed out that Will moved his things into her room, including the shelves he'd made during that woodworking class back in high school. "Don't even try to fight it."

And he hadn't. He let Lux do whatever she wanted to do to him in bed. Will tried his best not to smile about it.

  1. Thanks! I was so sure how to progress with Lux and Will. I mean, I knew I wanted them to be a couple, but how would they get there? Will is such a good guy, he might be too good. He's one, never to be vulnerable while Lux might be in a state of vulnerability. Still, I think she likes being the one calling the shots. Perhaps they can blame it on baby Jake.
