treading lightly
Evan knew Will had his own troubles to worry about with his new life with Lux and baby Jake, but he found it splendid to hear about. If only he had Will's life. Not so much with Lux, but to have a partner he could spend the rest of his life with.
He'd had such a lame Thanksgiving, alone with a Lean Cuisine of comfort food from the microwave. It might not have been as bad if he hadn't seen Sawyer with his new girlfriend at the grocery store earlier on Thanksgiving. Sawyer didn't even notice him.
Evan knew it was all his fault, pushing Sawyer away all this time. It was the past, but it felt as if a dreadful Christmas story came early this year and it left him restless.
When, Jools came over late that Black Friday, Evan knew he was rather glum and Jools needed cheering up after his bleak day with Joley.
"Is that all there is?" He'd asked Evan looking worried that he couldn't be materialistic enough for his new girlfriend.
Evan listened, unsure he could be any comfort to his friend. After all, no one was more alone in this world than he was.
He thought now, he should have said something, but when Jools sighed, Evan responded with a kiss. After all, they were on the couch watching some reality show about people neither could relate too.
Jools kissed him back.
Evan couldn't quite cringe about it now. They'd made out the rest of the evening.
Evan bit his bottom lip now, thinking it wasn't possible. He'd never been this way with Sawyer.
He'd always found Sawyer so forward. He felt as if he'd fought him off for the most part, but it was as if a certain ember in heart wanted to stay warm with thoughts of Jools. They were friends, but it didn't feel quite that way, anymore.
