brother to brother
Joon did his best not to faint when he heard Natalie's words about having a baby. Honestly, he wasn't sure he heard her correctly. All he knew to do was to smile and hope he didn't have a heart-attack.
"Why am I like that?" He asked his brother Dole. "I-I want to be happy."
"Sure you are, but you're frightened with everything that comes with it," Dole told him his life had changed now. "But you can do this."
Dole gave Joon a slap on the back as if he'd shake the responsibility into him. Joon only squinted doubting his own dad ever felt this sensation. He'd been too busy to feel it, evidently. Was that what he should do?
True, Joon was jittery, wondering just how to handle the future. He needed to marry Natalie. Somehow, he figured he needed to win the lottery first. He took a deep breath as if he didn't know where to start first.
"You should tell your mother," Dole nodded.
Joon's eyes widen. Wasn't enough already he was having to deal with his step-sibling Bom. He felt uneasy, but at least he could tell her the news over the phone. He dreaded to hear her reaction.
After all, he'd failed the civil servant test so many times. He knew he'd failed her. His chest tightened.
His brother promised he'd stay with him, during the phone call. And here he'd hoped to celebrate with a drink or even something as in ice cream that Natalie was already craving. He just might throw up or mess his pants. Joon's stomach bounced with emotions. How in the word would he get by in the next nine months?
