It feels like February
Sid felt a tickle in his throat as soon as he saw her. For a second or two, he thought he might back out of this ridiculous set up of Diago's. Why did he have to do this? Why was it so important for him to go out and be in a predicament like this.
"You made it," his blind date said with a big smile. She looked as if she might have been in a pageant or two. Sid couldn't imagine her being Diago's friend. She must have been a friend of Char's.
Sid awkwardly ordered a hot chocolate and the cashier gave him a free cookie, too. After all, it was just the three of them at three in the afternoon.
He apologized for the time. His schedule was a little mixed up these days. He would have to go to work by five. They took some time finding a booth and talked about the time and the weather. She was at the Uni.
Kylie said she liked winter, but not this kind of winter where everything felt frozen in the sub-zero temps. "I can't wait for spring," She smiled. He smiled. "Have any plans for spring break?"
He hated to tell her he wasn't a college student, but he confessed he didn't take classes. It was highly unlikely they had anything in common. As the minutes wore on, it was becoming dreadful to think of new things to say.
"I have a brother, who's..who's a senior in high school." At the moment, Sid felt much younger than Sunny who already had a girlfriend. Of course, the information went nowhere to further the conversation. She was an only child. Possibly, she was high maintenance, too.
He decided it was best to listen to her. She seemed the sort to like to talk about herself. Yet, she was proud. She'd managed for her dorm to bring in pets from the animal shelter to visit on Sunday afternoons.
"I want a cat, but I know I can't have one. At least, not right now." Kylie was worried about all the strays this horrible winter.
When Sid looked at her now, he could tell she was a caring person, after all.
