nevermind
"It was weird," Micah shrugged while he was cradling his cup of hot tea. He found Sid at the Campus Coffee Shop. They hadn't seen each other since the holidays.
"How weird?" Sid wanted to know about Diago's Sunday dinner.
"Look, I know you probably don't think I don't care about Sally and the baby." He drew a breath. "It's just not easy, you know, trying to do everything she wants me to do with the baby. It's like... she's testing me all the time, but..but then when this..this dude shows up, its like she's dropped off the universe. She wasn't asking me a ton of questions about Ava."
Sid nodded. As usual, he wasn't much help, but he was a good listener.
"I know, she knows this guy." Micah finally said what was on his mind.
"Can't you just ask her?" Sid winced with concern.
"I don't want to start anything with her." Micah remained even lipped. He didn't want to get in a fuss with her. It was enough to watch after the baby and make sure she had what she needed. He was trying to be the family Sally wanted, but it was scary at her house. He hadn't slept a wink since he moved in.
That's why he was here to get Sid's key so he could crash at his place while Sid was at work.
"You've been with her for how long now?" Sid smiled and shook his head. "You're not anything like I thought you were."
"What's that suppose to mean?" Micah squinted.
"Um, maybe you aren't as cool as I thought you were." He grinned. He finally patted Micah on the back. "It's OK to be scared. But you gotta talk to her."
"What about you? Are you really talking to that girl you're seeing now?" Micah wanted to know.
"If I have too. I try not to talk too much." Sid shrugged.
"When have you ever talked too much?" Micah laughed at him.
"She makes it kind of easy, anyway. She likes to talk a lot." Sid nodded as if it must be the perfect beginning of something.
