in a million years
Ollie couldn't talk to Valentina. The words were caught in his throat. No way could he explain himself. He didn't think our winter of discontent would cut it.
"But you have to try," his old friend Sid told him.
"Why? Why should I?" Ollie didn't need this. Even though he knew his father and his wife Betty were worried about him. They even thought he was suicidal. Still, he knew he needed to face his punishment. As it was he'd forsaken his first love. He'd been with another girl. Plain and simple.
"But, but you're punishing her, too." Sid explained, sure he was the blame, but he should at least talk to her. "Tell her why."
Ollie gritted. He didn't even know the answer to that. Although, for a long time now, he was certain if it was going to be anyone to mess up his life..it would be Gabby.
Of course, she didn't give him the time of day after the one night stand. She was just doing what she did best. Showing her true colors. Even though, it confused Ollie.
It was true, he wasn't the brightest in the bunch. He should have known better. He knew better. He did and then he didn't.
"But, Valentina is seeing someone." Ollie was straight lipped. She had not changed since the moment he'd met her all those years ago. She would always be a little girl to him. But she looked happy now to be with the guy who was in the same year of school that she was in. Maybe it was time to let her go. And he just didn't know it, until now. He didn't want to keep her back from enjoying her high school life.
At least, there was Sid to hang out with, and he needed help. He was moving into a house with his friends. Just what Ollie needed, more friends. Not friends like Gabby.
