Life goes on

Evan got on as an English middle school teacher. Jools supposed it was a lucky break. But he'd subbed at the school most of the winter. Jool's knew it was a lot to ask of Evan since he really wasn't a people person. Still, he'd managed and it progressed.

"You surprise me all the time," Jools told him he knew he was talented in a lot of things and knew his library of books were quite literary. "Why didn't you tell me you could teach?"

"I dunno. Doubted I'd be good at it," Evan shrugged as if he couldn't take a compliment. "I never really wanted to try, until now."

Jools went back to washing dishes while Evan put them away. Even now, without saying a word, Jools knew Evan loved him. It was a quaint presence of conversation, a slight touch shoulder to shoulder.

Still, they both wanted the best for each other and to be their best to each other. Jools had no idea where it might take them, but along the way, this calmness assured him things were going forward. Wasn't that adulting, after all?
