Cass got a new job. He was now employed at the library. They were initially looking for someone to take care of the computer lab, but they were also impressed with his origami and other craft skills. Three nights a week he was there for craft classes.
He and Kylie hadn't wandered off to music festivals after all. They'd moved in together.
It was a lot of first. First full-time job. First apartment. Even Kylie was working at the campus coffee shop now.
"I'm too tired to do anything now," Kylie didn't want to move from the couch when she got home. Little alone, make another smoothie for herself.
Cass only smiled and shook his head. Yes, he guessed it was true she was a bit of a spoiled brat, in spite of it, he found her to be more than a congenial roommate. He was certain once she got her energy back she might surprise him with some sort of creativity.
At the moment though, his back hurt from stooping over, helping people in the computer lab or showing someone how to fold paper to make a crane or squid. But he loved it. Happy to see her smiling face every day, possibly his number one fan. She was also his closet friend.
Not in a million years did he ever imagine being with his best friend. He knew, some would never understand it, but adulting was at its best when you jumped into it with the one you wanted to be with who definitely was a team player.
