we always find a way

It wasn't the best of times. Is that how these things started out? Cole should have known it would be trouble having Leann in his life, but he hadn't seen this coming.

Sure she was a bit resistance about moving in with him. But things weren't that good at her sister's.

Cole had only thought it would have been temporary. After all, Leann was the kind always looking for greener grass. Although, in spite of all the flooding going on in the heartland, it was quite a drought for her emotionally.

And then the worst possible thing happened. Her sister's husband killed her on her lunch break. Suddenly, Leann had no one.

"They were good for nothing, anyway," Leann babbled for starters. Even so, he knew she was hurt. She'd depended on her sister for so much emotional support. Now she was in a meltdown and sudden Cole was more family than he thought possible.

Yes, he was with her through all the turmoil that came after. She was practically a zombie.

"Oh, you know you wanted it this way," his brother Jared told him he was just asking for misery. Although, Cole couldn't help to be there for her and her baby son, as well.

He knew it was just temporary. Wasn't life that way? Somehow, he would manage to go and be there when she needed him. And Jared told him she was needy.

Still, it was hard to be happy when there was so much sadness, along with paperwork and trying to figure out her sister's finances. Leann now owned her sister's salon. It was an opportunity and yet a burden.

Cole kept assuring her everything was going to be OK. Of course, he didn't know this for sure, but he said he like he meant it. It was the least he could do.
