the way I see it

Simon felt he'd been put on the spot. He thought his summer was going well, especially with Candy.

OK, she did have her University job at the communications department. She even got an internship.

He always made sure there was food in the apartment. He'd even done a little cooking. Of course, he hated cleaning up. Why was that such a big deal? He didn't think he was depressed.

He set there with his arms folded across his chest staring at his bubble tea. It was quiet at the Campus Coffee shop.

"Oh, yeah..." he remembered. "I did see Ivy. Candy even went with me."

He didn't know how to say it, but Ivy did look radiant. He pressed his lips tight and wondered for a moment, what it would have been like if he was still with Ivy. He felt certain he would have taken responsibility for her child.

He looked away then. "I don't think much of that dude, she's with. He wasn't even there."

"Well," Xander sighed. "Somebody has to work."

Simon shot him a look. There went Xander then about working.

"What do you want me to do?" Simon's eyes were open wide.

"Look at your options. Get out there and get as many skills as you can, before it's too late." Xander told him.

"What about you?" Xander didn't have a fulltime job. Granted he was married to a doctor. "When are you going to have a fulltime job?"

There. Simon could nag him, too.
