what summer brings
How could he have said such rot? Ivy still fumed when she thought of Simon's visit with his girlfriend Candy.
They brought donuts.
Holy shit, she wanted to say but didn't. It was true Simon would probably never ever have kids. He wouldn't know how to change a disposable diaper (which was something they always needed along with baby wipes).
He told her how beautiful she looked which made her all the more sad and envious. He just didn't get her. He never would.
Yes, she went to doing stomach crunches and leg lifts and whatever else she could think of to get back in shape after the baby was born. So what, she was a mom and she spent most of her nights awake. No way could she push the baby off on Brian. At least, he was trying to be a family man.
Maybe, she was happy and didn't want to realize it. After all, other peculiar things happened this summer. Like Brian's little sister slipping away with her baby. No one had heard from Janine lately and Brian was keeping it hush hush.
But Ivy overheard the truth from Janine's husband. Jay told Brian the baby wasn't his. It was a stunning revelation that Ivy could barely keep to herself. Of course, her closest friend could care less. The more she thought of Simon, she wondered how they'd ever become friends.
She couldn't imagine making a home with him now. They were so different. He seemed so careless now even if she guessed he thought he was care-free. Simon didn't even want to hold baby Keanu.
Ivy doubted she made an effort to keep in contact with him. Just a poor little rich boy.
Honestly, she was happy her Brian was such a hard worker. She was happy she was with him. He wasn't like a no show like her own dad. He did diaper duty and sang, talked and played with the baby.
Yes, she'd let the right one in, even if he was never really raised by his parents. She was certain he was a good one.
