throw her in the water

Micah was sick of all the stories he kept hearing about Sal while he was with the band. He grew restless, knowing most of it was true.

Yes, she was a party girl back then, but she'd changed. She was a mother now and he'd seen her go through changes.

Honestly, he never wanted to see her as the party girl again. She did have a way of making him jealous. There was a part of him who envied her free spirit, but now that was gone too.

He thought of her as a survivor now, not some muse that made the boys smile and dedicate songs too. Still, he knew he wasn't the one who could give her everything she wanted..a family.

It was a sad feeling. He found no joy in being this way. While she'd changed to the adulting world of a young mother, he'd remained stuck in his own depression.

As summer came to a close, he was back at Char and Diago's. They'd made him feel at home. Although, he didn't know if there was really such a thing. He didn't like his own family and all their rigid rules. Yet maybe they were right. He needed an education.

How would he ever be anything if he didn't pick up more skills? As it was he was a part-timer, no goals in mind. Being a teen idol was a far off unstable dream.

"I'm thinking of going to the college," he told his roommate Sid. "Go into audio, even be an electrician."

"An electrician?" Sid said that was a scary job.

Micah shrugged. He knew he needed to stop playing around. Sal wasn't playing around anymore. He knew her baby wasn't his. Still, he couldn't think of anyone else he wanted so near and dear to him. But he had to let her go. She needed to find her own way in this world, too.
