counting the minutes

Arlo didn't know what to do. He'd called Gabby endlessly, left her messages and texts. But nothing.

He even called her ex. At first, Ste was mute on the subject of Gabby. But now, even he looked worried. Gabby's parents were horrified, yet Macy didn't give in to her sister's troubles.

"She's always been troubled," she finally told Arlo. "She gets anxious. I'm not sure if she can ever be happy." That was the way she is, according to Macy. "Just when I think she's made peace with the past she goes off the deep end," Macy said it usually wasn't this drastic.

"She told me once she wanted my life, but she knew she didn't deserve it." Macy believed Gabby was her own worst enemy. "She'd done something with a friend of hers, right before she met you and she broke him and his long time girlfriend up, because of it."

Arlo only winced, thinking he didn't know his girlfriend at all. Was she cheating on him, right now?

Still, all that matter was that he wanted her to be Okay. He wanted her to come back. He knew now he wasn't brave enough to be her boyfriend, but as a friend he did care about her. He wanted her to get the help she needed.

But from the looks of Ste, he knew she'd messed up his emotions badly. Still the unknown frightened him, and all he could do was to pray for Gabby safety and hope they found her soon.
